We're currently lacking a good first issue label, or something along those lines, for newcomers to dive into the code and experience a quick success.

Any more ideas for the label name, maybe from what you've seen in other projects?

I found out that good first issue is part of the default labels on GitHub now (https://help.github.com/en/github/building-a-strong-community/helping-new-contributors-find-your-project-with-labels & https://help.github.com/en/github/managing-your-work-on-github/about-labels#using-default-labels).

Chef is using a variation on this because they have labels for status, priority, type, etc (https://github.com/chef/chef/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3A%22Status%3A+Good+First+Issue%22)

Mastodon is using fit for beginners https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3A%22fit+for+beginners%22, I don't think it sounds as good as good first issue

So far I haven't seen a label name better than good first issue. Anyone?

I agree, fit for beginners doesn't sound as good to me. I guess that settles it then.

I sometimes see good first issue tweets in my twitter timeline, so I think using that label would have some beneficial unexpected reuse
