(The public key identity of Nostr allows us to create places directly bound to the key instead of a domain, so no special server programs are needed for the ability to leverage this functionality.)

Place owners or event organizers could create temporary places with a start and end date/time. They would be a new kind, and they could optionally point to an OSM place. They are similar to events, but they could use OSM tags to make it easy for map apps to render place types (think pop-up stores, food stands/trucks at events, etc.).

An example scenario would be a conference or music festival publishing all the temporary places at their event, then you just open Marco (or any other app supporting this new protocol) to get a nice, interactive map for the event.

Extras

With payment details added, temporary places can also accept donations and other payments
Place details could be encrypted if desired (safety guarantees of this, or lack thereof, would have to be communicated clearly)

Shower thought: perhaps it could even make sense to render geo-tagged, public events on the map.
