Create VM
Create Chef recipe/cookbook
Update DNS entry of subdomain
Make any necessary adjustments to the Rails app for production

I think we can re-use the Mastodon cookbook for this, which already deploys a Rails app with Unicorn, Nginx, and systemd services.
